Nursery Miracle

I decided to post this little experience I had a few weeks ago, as a bonus to anyone who reads this blog.

I'm in the primary presidency (which is just a nursery + one seven year-old boy), and two Sundays ago, the president was gone and so was the other counselor, so it was just me and a sister in the ward I had recruited. It was the worst Sunday EVER!

The 7 year-old's teachers weren't there, so he had to come to nursery. He was being a pill. A normally quiet and mild mannered boy was crying. Another girl always cries, but then she managed to open the door in the middle of the lesson and was running down the hall screaming. Another girl saw the door open and started crying. The little boy that was crying started wailing. The 7 year-old was telling me how he didn't like being in nursery with crying little kids. I knew exactly how he felt.

I was at the end of my rope. I had almost just given up and decided to let them cry the last 45 minutes of church. The other sister was just as exasperated. I was totally stressed.

Then, the door opens and there was Chris. It was like nothing else mattered at that moment, because my husband had come
to save me! He picked up kids, started playing games. Everyone calmed down. We colored, we danced, and we all left in a very good mood.

After the kids were gone he told me that in priesthood they'd been talking about being a man, and one of the guys referenced a talk from one of the general authorities about being there, if that meant home teaching, with your family, at meetings, wherever. Wherever a man needs to be, he should be there. Chris got the impression that he needed to be in nursery. I can't tell you how much that meant to me. I cry everytime I think about it, because I seriously didn't know what I was going to do in nursery (and the ideas I got were looking a little bit violent...), but my husband followed a prompting and saved the day. That not only made me feel like I was loved by my husband, but also by my Heavenly Father, and my husband was the angel he'd sent to me.

I think this could be one of the reasons I don't have children yet. But, on the same note, I think this is why we married people always ask single people when they're going to get married, because of sweet experiences like this. Anyway, that's about all that's been going on in my life. I can't believe how quickly summer goes. I hate it. Oh well, not much you can do!

Forever

So it has been forever since I posted. This blog is not flourishing. Sad, but I think I well try and survive with out it! I am really trying to enjoy my summer in Chicago. I just finished one humanities class and only have 1 month to finish the other one. YIKES. Wish me well. I hope all is great with everyone. I will be back in lovely Burley at the end of August, then back to Provo, Perhaps I will see some of you then!

Internship

Well friends, I have officially started my internship at the Kane County Health Department. The wemen that I work with are nice. I mostly make brochures for different health programs. I like it so far. Chicago is lovely, but I don't see much of it now. I am also taking a humanities class that sucks. It is independent study. It is hard for me to want to read the assignments, especially since I have to read the Odysee and Illiad. WAHOO! Well people keep posting, because it is fun. I promise! You should all be more like Mandi and fear my wrath!

Graduation

I don't know how many of y'all read my blog (deidrazoe.blogspot.com), but here is a picture from graduation day. It snowed and was freakin' freezing. My family (except Chris) didn't come to Commencement, and then they were all over the valley. So, instead of standing in the Spectrum forever, we decided to walk home. Brr! But my umbrella was cute and happy! :-)

Hey friends. Today Erik and I went to an awesome garden in Chicago. It had cool gardens and sweet statues. We both enjoyed it. They had plants from all over the world. YAY FOR CHICAGO!

Hi

I daresay it's far better for me to take the time to post my life happenings rather than incur the wrath of Colette Desta Gibby Hartman. So it can now be said that I have officially blogged. In case of any confusion let it be said that it is I, Amanda Lynne Bowen, graduate of BHS class of '03, somewhat fresh returned missionary and future female astronaut diaper-wearer that is thus posting. What have I been up to? Well to sum it up - I'm donating my body to science, using the cash to invest in moon boots while finishing up my higher education at Brigham Young University all while becoming the lowest paid wedding planner in history. And by lowest paid, I mean I may or may not receive a hug as payment. (The wedding is for my little sister, not me, just so we can clear that up.) I return to school in August where I will finish up my degree in Geography: Global Studies and then hopefully it's off to grad school in the spring where I can study demographics and human/geographic interactions to my heart's content. For now I'm in Burley finishing up my medical bed-rest and attempting to regain some of my gross motor skills and/or my short term memory. It's a toss up as to which I would rather have at the moment. Just know that I miss you all and look forward to any other further postings on your lives.
